Jayne Mansfield and Italian actress Moira Orfei did not get along during filming. Orfei felt that she should have been the star. She had Mansfield's name removed from promotional materials for the Italian release.
Two English-dubbed versions of this movie exist. In the Archer Video version (AR 2006), released on VHS in the UK in 1983, Mickey Hargitay spoke with his own voice, making this the only Italian epic in which Hercules speaks with a Hungarian accent. One typical line comes across as: "Opena gate. I want to speak with yoore keeng." In the Trimark version (VM 7351D), released on DVD in the US in 2000, Hargitay is dubbed by a standard American voice actor. Queen Deianira also undergoes a vocal transformation between versions. Jayne Mansfield referred to the monster as the "heedra," but her dubbed voice says "hydra."
Stars Mickey Hargitay and Jayne Mansfield are the parents of Mariska Hargitay, star of the long-running TV series "Law and Order: SVU."
Mickey Hargitay and Jayne Mansfield were married at the time this film was made. They play on-screen love interests in the film.
