Peppino De Filippo and Totò in Chi si ferma è perduto (1960)

Trivia

Chi si ferma è perduto

Edit
Sicilian clerk Donato Cavallo is played by Luigi De Filippo, in real-life son of Peppino De Filippo (Giuseppe Colabona).
The gag of the mistaken identity was inspired by the play The Government Inspector (1836) by Nikolay Gogol.
Although the story takes place in Naples, the filming was entirely made in Rome. The building of the company Pasquetti is a boarding school which was used again in The Monsters (1963) as the school of the kid of the first episode, played by Ricky Tognazzi.
The scene where Antonio Guardalavecchia ( Totò ) flirts with Giulia Pasquetti ( Lia Zoppelli ) at the office party spoofs a TV commercial of Italian bakery industry Alemagna, played by same Lia Zoppelli together with Enrico Viarisio between 1957 and 1965.
The company Maico, producer of glasses with integrated hearing aid bought by Giuseppe Colabona ( Peppino De Filippo ) for the deaf customer ( Peppino De Martino ), sponsored the movie in theaters.

Director Cameo

Sergio Corbucci: a man playing pool with Cavicchioni ( Renzo Palmer ).
