Linda Ashton, Larissa Ely, and Charles Napier in Cherry, Harry & Raquel! (1969)

Trivia

Cherry, Harry & Raquel!

Edit
This is the first appearance of Charles Napier in a Russ Meyer film. He ultimately appeared in three other films for Meyer: Beyond the Valley of the Dolls (1970) and The Seven Minutes (1971) (in which he kept his clothes on) and Supervixens (1975) (in which his frontal nudity was simulated with a huge rubber phallus).
Uschi Digard's first of many appearances in a Russ Meyer film. Meyer told Femme Fatales magazine in April 1998 that he and Digard had a great love affair during the course of making his films. He said she was "one of the most aggressive sex partners anyone could hope to find. Her whole life was devoted to screwing. If we were out in the desert or someplace, Uschi would always have a blan- ket and she'd open up that great pussy and I'd really wail away at it." He added that she loved sex so much that even when they were shooting just a close up of her face during sex scenes, she insisted on f*cking the other actor, who was off camera, while they filmed. Digard denied that. She said in interviews that they had a close relationship, but never a sexual one.
Russ Meyer said Roger Ebert was wrong because of the corrupted footage. The truth is that leading actress Linda Ashton got into a fight with her motel owner over her dog abuse and left the set after only 8 days of shooting. That's why Russ had to fill in the gaps in the story with surreal and satirical cuts, with Uschi Digard.
According to some reports, the film's nearly incomprehensible storyline was the result of a photo lab mishap that ruined much of the original footage - a situation that director Russ Meyer tried to rectify by shooting inserts of a nude woman frolicking in the desert that were inserted in the many plot holes to pad the running time. Later in his career, when the movie's bizarre surrealism was met with critical praise, Meyer denied that story, possibly to save face and give the impression that the fragmented plot was intentional.
Uschi Digard's first credited role in an American feature film. She had made some avant-grade films in Sweden where she performed nude before moving to the U.S. where she became a nude model. Digard said she knew she was destined to show off her body when her breast size reached 40DD by the time she was 15. She was proud of her physique and enjoyed being naked.
