Vincent Price helped design the opening credits.

The fort at the Vasquez Rocks location, used here as a prison, was built by Columbia Pictures in the mid-'50s for the TV series Tales of the 77th Bengal Lancers (1956), at a cost of nearly $118,000.

When in the saloon, the bartender tells Billy that he can't serve minors. Paul Hampton was 31 or 32 when this was filmed.

Vincent Price and Beverly Powers both appeared in The Comedy of Terrors (1963).

The prison set appears as an Army fort in Alias Joe Cartwright (1964).
