The film contained rarely seen colour footage of the 1966 World Cup final between England and West Germany.
The theme tune is composed and sung by The Kinks but for legal reasons Ray Davies' vocals were replaced by Chas Mills.
The film takes place on September 3, 1939, on May 10, 1940, in June 1940, on December 8, 1941, on May 8, 1945, on August 6, 1945, in March 1966, on July 30, 1966 and in 1968.
