Satan's "I am a friend and companion of the night . . . " speech is taken from H.P. Lovecraft's short story "The Horror At Red Hook."
The film's Italian title was "L'Ossessa: i raccapriccianti delitti di Monroe Park," which translates as "The Obsessed: The Horrific Crimes of Monroe Park." Oddly, the film has no setting (or character) called Monroe Park.
This was a rather obscure film (outside of horror-buff circles) until it was given resurgence on a 1998 episode of Mystery Science Theater 3000 (1988). The episode became a popular one from the series' tenth season. MST3K fans frequently reference this film by quoting Melissa's off-beat line, "This is where the fish lives."
Despite popular belief, the film was not directed by Tom Laughlin, who was often credited under the pseudonym Don Henderson. The director was actually Donald Henderson, who was credited as Don Henderson.
Members of the film's crew play the villagers who try to burn Lucinda.
