All the paintings --- seven abstracts, three London river scenes, two impressionist and a portrait --- seen in the film were actually done by David Hemmings who'd spent a little time at Epsom School of Art, but was mainly self taught.
The only screenwriting credit of Professor George Bluestone, author of a famous book about the art of adapting novels for the cinema. It is believed that the actor Al Lettieri did a rewrite on the script.
Winston Mawdsley Graham OBE (1908-2003) was an English novelist best known for the Poldark series (12 novels) of historical novels set in Cornwall, though he also wrote numerous other works, including contemporary thrillers, period novels, short stories, non-fiction and plays. The first seven Poldark novels were adapted into two BBC television series broadcast in the UK between 1975 and 2015, Poldark (1975) and Poldark (2015), which garnered audiences of about 14 million viewers. The series were so successful that some vicars rescheduled or canceled church services rather than have them clash with the broadcast of Poldark episodes.
