Jerry Lewis used the surname "Calonico" for one of the characters. Calonico was the original birth name of Jerry's then-wife Patti Lewis (nee Palmer).
Dick Miller sold the script to the studio, but claimed it was re-written (originally it was set in the Pacific and was changed to Nazi Germany by Jerry Lewis ). He called the experience a "sore spot," but said it was fine for a Jerry Lewis vehicle.
