Contrary to what some sources claim, this was not filmed in 1971. Filming occurred in June of 1973. Lead girl, Christina von Blanc had not yet even begun acting in 1971, and several automobiles have also been identified as 1972 and 1973 model year cars.
Footage shot eight years later, for Zombie Lake (1981), was edited into this film for subsequent releases, and it was hyperbolically claimed this was filmed " almost ten years earlier ", which has led to the inaccuracy.
According to Jesús Franco, he titled the movie La nuit des étoiles filantes (The Night of the Shooting Stars), but distributors changed the title as Une vierge chez les morts vivants (A Virgin Among the Living Dead).
The chapel in the woods shown in the movie was, and is, a real chapel. Open to the public, it is called the Chapel of Saint Sebastian and is located in the Marechal Carmona Park (also known as Gandarinha Park), in the town and municipality of the Lisbon District of Portugal.
Jesus Franco stated in interviews that this was one of his favorite films because he felt the plot was "so imaginative and interesting," the actors were so enthusiastic to work with him, and it was made at a very happy time in his life.
