The Go-Between (1971)

FAQ

The Go-Between

FAQ

The exteriors of the house itself were filmed at Melton Constable hall, in Norfolk. At the time it was uninhabited if not actually derelict. If you look at the state of the lawns, they are very badly maintained, which would be unthinkable in such a house (although IMHO it emphasizes the dry heat of the summer.)

The cricket game was filmed a few miles away at a village called Thornage. Aged about 4, I saw it being filmed, or at least I saw the set - the cricket pitch itself was hidden behind high screens.

There is a brief exterior scene before Leo gets his new suit - this was filmed in Tombland in Norwich.

The church and village scenes were filmed at Heydon in Norfolk.

The bathing scene was shot at Hickling Broad, also in Norfolk.
