Quotes

The Panic in Needle Park

Edit
  • Marco: You've been through some changes since I saw you. Now you wanna wipe all that out. You could, if you wanted to.
  • [repeated line]
  • Bobby: I was gonna marry you!
  • Hank: What are you gonna do?
  • Helen: Well, I'm not gonna do it with you.
  • Bobby: I was gonna marry you! You think I'd marry a whore?
  • Bobby: [to Helen, when he realizes she ratted him out] CUNT! I was gonna marry you!
  • Helen: Look, I'll give you Sammy, Sonny, anyone.
  • Hotch: You rat up. You don't rat down.
  • [last lines]
  • Helen: Bobby!
  • Bobby: Well?
  • Bobby: I told my brother all about you. My brother Hank.
  • Helen: You did?
  • Bobby: Yeah. He's gonna love you. Only, he better not love you too much, cause I'll kick his ass.
  • Bobby: Last night, tonight, what difference does it make? So, I fucked up.
  • Hank: That's the story of your life! Fuckin' up. What do I gotta do? Carry you every place to make sure you get there, huh? Is that what a brother's for? What do you think this is, some kind of "He's Not Heavy, He's My Brother" crap? Let me tell you something, man, you are heavy!
  • Chico: You know what the best high of all is?
  • Helen: What is it?
  • Chico: Death.
  • Marco: Smoke a joint? I told you to smoke a joint.
  • Helen: You said it was illegal.
  • Bobby: I'm a germ. You should split.
  • Helen: You don't have to tell me when to go. I'll just leave.
  • Irene: I ain't no robber. I'm a prostitute.
  • Helen: Did you see Marco?
  • Bobby: Yeah. Marco. He split, man. He had a gig somewhere. You know them artists, they're always splittin'.
  • Bobby: [pawning a TV set] This is UHF! You get everything on here. You want Chicago, you get Chicago. You get Turkey, I hear on this thing. Come on.
  • Pawnshop Lady: I'll give you fifteen dollars, okay?
  • Bobby: Esther, I'm a dope addict.
  • Pawnshop Lady: I heard that before. Why don't you give me something new.
  • Bobby: I'm a sex-crazed dope fiend.
  • Pawnshop Lady: Come on, here, I'll give you twenty dollars, huh. Twenty dollars!
  • Bobby: I'm dyin' from the dope, Esther.
  • Pawnshop Lady: And I'm dyin' from hunger.
  • Bobby: You know what you are?
  • Helen: What am I?
  • Bobby: You're my girl. Right?
  • Hotch: Bobby never told you about a panic, did he? This time next month he'll be ratting for a couple of bags. Everybody rats. One day you pick up a newspaper and you read a little story in there... the Feds pick up 120 pounds of shit at the docks. Nobody reads about it. But, for the next six months you get everybody kickin' in the streets and rattin' on each other. You see, that's one thing you got to remember about a junkie, is they always rat. Always.
  • Helen: What's it like being a cop?
  • Hotch: Well, we busted a guy the other day. It took about an hour to find the tracks. He was shootin' in his privates, you know what I mean?
  • Helen: Did that pretty much do it for you?
  • Title Card: The intersection at Broadway and 72nd Street on New York's West Side is officially known as Sherman Square. To heroin addicts it's Needle Park.
  • Bobby: I was the Babe Ruth of West 81st Street. That's right! I hit that ball - I hit the ball on the roof one time, right. I went up to get it. There was this crap game going on, right. I won $79 before my next turn at bat. Huh? I'm the greatest!
  • Bobby: I want you to shape up!
  • Ward Nurse: There are no planes from Jersey City, either.
  • Bobby: There are! There's a helicopter that lands on the Pan Am building, then a limousine takes you down.
  • Bobby: I want you to do me a favor. I want you to go up to 119th Street for me. I want you to score for me.
  • Helen: You could.
  • Bobby: Yeah, I could. Yeah.
  • Helen: You're not just asking me to score for you. You're asking something else.
  • Bobby: What am I askin'?
  • Helen: You're asking how much I'll do for you.
  • Bobby: Yeah. So?
  • Helen: So. Alright.
  • Freddy: You cats must be out of your mind!
  • Hank: Come on, Bobby, don't try to bull shit me... man. Cut your habit back.
  • Helen: He's only chipping.
  • Hank: I chip. He uses - at fifty bucks a day. That's two bills a week. And this is just the beginning of the panic. Where's the money gonna come from Bobby?
  • Bobby: Huh?
  • Helen: Look at that dog.
  • Bobby: Hey, Skip.
  • Helen: No, this dog's not Skip.
  • Bobby: Come on, Rocky.
  • Helen: Sounds like a prizefighter.
  • Helen: Hotch, you wanna ball me?
  • Hotch: It's not gonna be that easy, Helen. I want Bobby.
  • Irene: It's a real panic, man. It's worst than '68. The dealers have all gone down to Florida and they're driving the prices up.
  • Bobby: You know how old I was the first time I got busted? Nine. Stealing rubbers in a drug store. I told the cop they was for Hank.
  • Bobby: Did you ball him?
