Rajesh Khanna and Jaya Bachchan in Bawarchi (1972)

Trivia

Bawarchi

Edit
The film has no title cards. Instead the titles and credits are narrated using a voice over by Amitabh Bachchan.
Super star Rajesh Khanna played the title role and did not have a romantic lead opposite him for the second time after the successful Anand (1971). After this he did an extended special appearance in Anuraag and again had no romantic lead opposite him. Bold considering his super star status.
Rajesh Khanna wears a cap throughout the film, never exposing his full hair even once.
Amitabh Bachchan was a regular visitor on the sets as he was dating Jaya at the time. Rajesh Khanna would constantly ridicule Amitabh and insult him. One day Rajesh Khanna called Amitabh "manhoos". Jaya upon hearing this finally had enough. She went within Khanna's earshot and said " One day the world will see where this man (Amitabh) will be and where Rajesh Khanna will be."
Jaya Bachchan stated " Tell me where was the meat in Bawarchi for me, It was an out-and-out Rajesh Khanna film.I did the film for Hrishikesh Mukherjee whom I can never refuse. We were one happy family the whole unit, until the hero turned up. He would stroll in like a superstar lord so late and it would make my blood boil. I would see Hrishikesh Mukherjee say nothing to him at least not in front of us, where as if anyone else came a couple of minutes late we would see Hrishikesh Mukherjee temper. What got my goat was the superior man manner in which Rajesh Khanna adopted. He used to behave as though I did not exist. The way he ignored me thru out the making,I will never forget".
