Mehmood was producing Bombay to Goa (1972) and wanted a protagonist for it. He was brain storming with his colleagues so as to who should be cast for the lead role when a certain somebody entered the room. He had met him only once before. He saw him and suggested to his colleagues that why don't we cast this "Lamba Ghoda" (Tall Horse). His colleagues agreed later on and the role went to Amitabh Bachchan.
