- Birdy Williams: [Harry returns to his cell.] Harry, solitary never did nothing for nobody, ol' son.
- Harry Lomart: I've got to get out of here, Birdy.
- Pat Lomart: All those days... days... days. Nothing. Not the next or the next. Oh, do try and understand, luv. Try and see it my way. 15 years is a lifetime. I'll be old. So alone. So lonely without a man. You know what I'm like. I need him.
- Harry Lomart: It must be very difficult.
- Pat Lomart: I didn't want to tell you in a letter. That's not fair.
- Harry Lomart: What wouldn't be fair. What are you chewin' about?
- Pat Lomart: I want some life. I want a baby again. I've met someone. I... I didn't mean to.
- [pause]
- Pat Lomart: I want a divorce!
- Harry Lomart: No.
- Pat Lomart: I'm pregnant!
- [Harry breaks through the prison glass and tries to strangle her.]
- Birdy Williams: [In their cells] Harry, we've got to think... plan... scheme.
- Harry Lomart: Thanks, but it's my bind.
- Birdy Williams: No, not altogether. A woman gave us away, don't forget.
- Harry Lomart: Pat?
- Birdy Williams: Anything's possible. Especially after what she told you.
- Harry Lomart: Yeah, but to break here. It would be dangerous for you.
- Birdy Williams: Aw, no. I've thinking about it anyway. Australia maybe. It's still wide open there.
