Referenced in

    • The Man Who Fell to Earth (1976)

When Nathan Bryce browses the book he got for his birthday from his daughter, the camera zooms in on elements in the paintings in the books and you hear related sound effects. This is quite similar to the scene in the Library in the space station in Solaris where Khari browses a book and the camera zooms in on the details and we hear related sound effects. Both films also use the work of the painter Pieter Brueghel as a reference point.
    • The Third Generation (1979)

    • Stalker (1979)

    • Koyaanisqatsi (1982)

There's a long highway shot, like the one used in Solyaris
    • Voyage in Time (TV Movie 1983)

      Tarkovsky mentions the film.

References

    • Vertigo (1958)

    • 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968)

Solaris is Andrei Tarkovsky's answer to Kubrick's 2001: a space odyssey - he has said as much in later interviews.

American version of the Russian film, same name and plot
