Thumb Tripping (1972)

Trivia

Thumb Tripping

Edit
Joy Bang was also seriously considered for the lead role of Shay, but the filmmakers ultimately decided to cast Meg Foster instead.
To get more realistic reactions in the bar scene, director Quentin Masters set up hidden cameras around an actual bar in a small town in Northern California. He then had the actors run in and act wild and drunk. Marianna Hill was wearing a bikini and jumped on the bar where she started to dance. The crowd was confused at first and then started to enjoy the show. But when they started moving toward her, she got nervous and jumped off the bar into some guy's arms. Hill gave him a quick kiss while his furious wife looked on. Then Hill ran outside with the other actors.
Scenes filmed in Carmel, California, situated in Northern California, include shots inside the Mediterranean Market (in business from 1950 to 2002) and Harrison Memorial Library, which had been turned into the 'City Jail' in the film. Hugh Bayless, a then-current Carmel City Administrator, was an extra in the movie. Bayless retired in 1979.
