Sandra Dee was on an emotional high when the film first went into production and thoroughly enjoyed the comedy and musical scenes, but then her husband Bobby Darin walked out on her and asked for a divorce, which shattered her and made it hard for Dee to concentrate and give a comedic performance.

The exterior of the "hospital" to which Sandra Dee is rushed to give birth at the beginning of this film is actually the home of M-G-M's executive offices. the Irving Thalberg Building, which played the same role in dozens of other films.
When Sandra Dee sings with the band "Wild Affair" the guitarist on the left of the screen behind her is country music guitarist Bobby Neal. Born in Arkansas in 1947, he died on December 31, 1985 at the age of 38 in the plane crash with Ricky Nelson and his Stone Canyon Band. He was lead guitarist with Ricky Nelson for many years on tour and often did duos with him. He was known as a penultimate guitarist.
