Hot Rods to Hell (1966)

FAQ

Hot Rods to Hell

FAQ

The featured "Hot Rod to Hell" in the film is a 1958 Chevrolet Corvette. The car was modified from an original '58 Vette appearance by the removal of the front bumperettes, the lower front valence, and the grille. In addition, a roll bar was added.

As for the drivetrain, the Vette featured a manual transmission and, most likely, a 265 V8 engine. Inexplicably, the soundtrack of the engine (which was added later) was that of a European engine (most likely that of a Ferrari - in fact, the same soundtrack of the engine is used for the 1967 film "Spinout," starring Elvis Presley).

In addition, the Vette was clearly having mechanical issues during filming, as it is frequently trailed by a cloud of blue or white smoke, indicating an engine malfunction (likely a blown head gasket or valve trouble).

It was a 1927 "T" is all I can see. I'd like to know more.
