Witchfinder General (1968)

FAQ

Witchfinder General

FAQ

The (censored) Director's Cut has been compared to the (uncensored) Extended Cut. Both versions are contained in the UK-DVD by Prism Leisure and only differ from each other through alternatively shot topless-action in the Extended Cut. There is not any more violence, like some websites claim!

There may however be some confusion as to what constitutes the 'censored' version. In the UK Prism release there exist a number of restored scenes of violence, many of which can be clearly identified by their poorer image quality (apparently recovered from videotape). These include portions of the boil-lancing scene, the burning of the woman (when her body pitches forward into the flames) and the infamous 'heel in the eye' sequence at the climax.
