The last Peanuts special with original music by Vince Guaraldi. He died from a heart attack on February 6, 1976, several hours after completing recording of the show's score. The special is dedicated in his memory.

In one scene, Lucy and Frieda are speaking to each other, but their dialogue is incomprehensible because it is backmasked. When reversed, one part of a line is actually Sally saying, "If I ever get off this bus..." which was recorded for Race for Your Life, Charlie Brown (1977), which was in production at the same time as this special, while Lucy says, "Meet me at home plate..." when played backwards.
One of the rare times that Sally refers to her older brother as "Charlie Brown". Normally, she calls him "Big Brother".
