As of 2019, the final acting appearance of Patricia Hitchcock, actress from Psycho and Strangers on a Train and daughter of Alfred Hitchcock. Patricia plays a skater's mom with Gordon Jump as the father.
On the DVD commentary, director George Gage asked professional skater (and this film's ringer) Tony Alva if he, as a director, did good for the sport of skateboarding. Tony assured him that it was a "cult movie" that people constantly brought up to him throughout his pro skating career.
Tony Alva, Ellen O'Neal and Richard Van der Wyk were professional and/or very talented young skateboarders who are in the movie because of their skills at the sport while Leif Garrett and teen ingenue Pam Kenneally were actors who knew how to skateboard.
Filmed early in 1977. Leif Garrett's increasing popularity as a singer meant he was unable to make another film for four years until "Longshot", although he did appear in the end credits of "Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band".
