    Cindy 1978, I do own a copy

Hello, I was browsing movies online and I ran across this page. I saw Cindy when I was a little girl and fortunately for me I recorded it and I still own the cassette to this day, and with the advances in modern technology I have been able to convert it form VHS format to DVD format. I loved this movie and I still watch it every chance I get, my nieces also love it, we sing every song in the movie each time we watch it.

If you would like a copy, you can contact me at krystalven524@yahoo.com, and I will be happy to send you one for free!! Hope this helps you guys out!!

    Where did this gem go?

This is the best production of Cinderella ever. I can't figure out why it has never been (as far as I can tell) rerun. It features an all-black cast, in a modern setting, with a Cinderella (Cindy) who wants to marry not a prince, but a military man.

In this version, Cinderella's father pretends to have a fancy job at a hotel, but is, in actuality, the men's room attendant.

Cinderella's mom follows him to work one day and angrily confronts him, "You ain't nothing but a lyin, cheatin MEN'S ROOM ATTENDANT!" leading into one of the best numbers I have ever seen in a musical. The men at the hotel rush to Dad's defense in a song, "The Best Damn Men's Room Attendant In the History of the Palace Hotel." At one point, a line of about twenty men file out of one bathroom stall playing brass instruments!

    Where did this gem go????

    I knew it existed!

I saw this movie one time when I was six years old, I'm now 29, and I never forgot it. I asked people through out college and my working years, "Do you remember a black version of 'Cinderella' called 'Cindy' and the little girl had to sleep in the bath tub?" And everyone's response was "No", so I was really starting to think that I had imagined the whole thing, but IMDB is wonderful, because it proved I wasn't crazy...It does exist! And, though I don't remember every detail, it was a great and refreshing update to the old fairy tale. I am proud to be one of the few people who saw it, and better than that, remember it.

    Soooo relieved!!!

I CAN NOT believe that there are other people on this planet that have seen this movie besides me!! I have never, and I mean NEVER found anyone else that has seen this movie but me!! I recorded it when I was little back when ABC showed a Disney movie every Saturday but my mom eventually threw it away because it was on some old tape. I swear I thought I had dreamed up the entire movie. I remember asking my sister if she remembered it, from Cindy's "worn" little white keds shoes, to the step sister putting Vaseline on her foot to squeeze her foot in Cindy's shoe, but she just looked at me like I was crazy. Man, I really loved this movie and if anyone out there has a copy, please let me know. I'll buy it from you!! No bull. That movie is a classic. Where in the world did it ever go?!?!

Glad someone else has seen this! What ever happened to it?

I saw this movie when I was a senior in high school. I asked a couple of people the next day if they saw it; no one had. To this day, I still haven't met anyone who saw it. Sometimes I, too, thought I imagined it.

I remember laughing all the way through. The part I remember most is the deadpan way the father (I think) told Cindy that the stepmother(?) was excommunicated from her church for belting out a gospel song in their staid congregation.

I've always wondered if their was some particular reason why it was never shown again.

I can't even find it on video, not even at alternative or "art" video stores.
