International Velvet (1978)

Trivia

International Velvet

Edit
Many of the Olympic judges were, in real life, the coach drivers charged with taking the actors and actresses to and from their hotel.
The producers wanted Dame Elizabeth Taylor to reprise her role as Velvet Brown. Actresses Julie Andrews, Jean Simmons, Claire Bloom and Glenda Jackson were under consideration as replacements. The role ultimately went to Nanette Newman, wife of director Bryan Forbes.
The film stars three Oscar winners: Tatum O'Neal, Anthony Hopkins, and Christopher Plummer.
Final theatrical movie of Norman Wooland (Team Doctor).
The British team's competition in the United States was filmed during the Ledyard Three Day Event (at the time often called Combined Training) in Wenham, Massachusetts. Much of the footage features the real Olympic and international level riders of the day and their top horses in the midst of their competition at Ledyard Farm. Ledyard Farm no longer hosts an international three day event.
