Decent Sammo Martial Arts Comedy

When a pair of thieves steal Frog's (Sammo Hung) wallet, it's revealed that he possesses the 'invincible armor' which immediately becomes the center point of everyone's desire including another swindler, Tiger. They must work together when a master of crab fist obtains the armor. There isn't a lot in the way of redeeming characters in this one. Everyone is willing to go to any lengths to have the armor and get the upper hand, but regardless there is plenty of fun and humor. The fighting is pretty solid though it never gets too creative. The end fight between Frog and Tiger features some wicked three section staff fighting. A lot of familiar faces in this one too including Karl Maka, Lam Ching Yung, and many of Sammo's regulars.

Pretty good Sammo Hung movie

This movie was funnier than I expected but I wasn't 100% satisfied with the fight scenes. Some of them are pretty standard, while others are simply great, which leaves a bitter taste after watching it.Sammo and Lau Kar-Wing are both excellent screen fighters but I advise watching Odd Couple, which was made a year later, instead. It has basically the same cast but the choreography was better and quicker. Still, Dirty Tiger, Crazy Frog is a lot of fun but don't expect too much in terms of fighting and you'll have a good time......................7,9/10

One of the best martial arts movies of 1978

It starts with three challengers for "Dirty Tiger" played by one of the great action directors in movie history, Lau Kar-Wing. The weapons fight is simply spectacular.

Next, an old lady seeks his help to bring back her husband, "Crazy Frog", played by Sammo Hung. He is a gambler and womanizer. He is at the casino where "Multi Hand Chick" picks his pocket. She gets him to fight for her by pretending to be his wife. Sammo wears quite an undershirt - invincible armor. She steals it. The Dirty Tiger and Crazy Frog team up to get the armor back.

The cast consists of all the top stunt men of the era, except for Jackie Chan and the Grandmaster. The fight sequences often include props. That added an extra level of creativity and fun to watch. The final fight with the three section staffs could be the best fight sequence ever using those weapons.

I rate this above average and one of the best martial arts movies of 1978.

My copy is a digital file that plays on a HDTV as wide screen with English subtitles. The resolution is as good as standard DVD.

Fun Plot and Creative Action

This is a very fun movie that represents another successful collaboration between Lau family member Lau Kar Wing and Sammo Hung. Excellent choreography and a funny plotline makes for a great kung fu comedy.
