Tony Barry, John Hargreaves, and Lorna Lesley in Little Boy Lost (1978)

Trivia

Little Boy Lost

Edit
Steven Walls went missing on 5 February 1960 in the Northern New South Wales Australian region of New England. Walls went missing for four days and was found on 8 February 1960 at 2 pm. An estimated three to five thousand people were involved in the search, some coming from over 3000 kilometers away. They came to help in the search traveling by various modes of transport such as car, bike, bus, horse and even sulky.
This film is based on a true story about a little four-year old boy, Steven Walls, who went missing in the Australian bush for four days during February 1960. The incident was renown for being Australia's biggest ever search and has become a legend in Australian folklore.
This movie was filmed in the actual region, in the bush around Guyra, New South Wales Australia, where the real-life boy Walls actually went missing.
Casting of the film's central character, the little boy Steven Walls, was done via a nation-wide competition held through the 'Australian Women's Weekly' magazine. Producer Phillip Avalon once remarked that the search for a boy to play the key role almost paralleled the actual search for Steven Walls itself.
Nathan Dawes who plays the boy Steven Walls in this film, came from Rockhampton, Queensland, Australia. Dawes was cast in the part partially because he resembled the real Steven Walls at the same age.
