    The animated film The Water Babies is based on The Water-Babies, A Fairy Tale for a Land Baby, a children's novel by the English Reverend Charles Kingsley [1819-1875]. First written in 1862-1863 as a serial for Macmillan's Magazine, it was published in its entirety in 1863. The novel was adapted for the film by Michael Robson and Lionel Jeffries.
