"The Bitch" is considered to be "soft porn", meaning that it shows nudity and people having sex, but isn't as explicit as hardcore porn. Breasts and buttocks are shown, but no genitalia.
After The Stud and The Bitch, which were both turned into films, Jackie Collins originally planned to write a third book in the series which was to be about Fontaine dealing with shady figures from London's underworld, which also would have been the basis for a film starring Joan Collins. However, this never came to pass and Jackie Collins went on to write the first of her Lucky Santangelo mafia novels, "Chances". Meanwhile, the same year "Chances" was published, Joan Collins was offered her most famous role to date, that of Alexis Carrington in Dynasty (1981).
Originally, the character of Blake Carrington's ex-wife in Dynasty was to be called Madeline and the producers were initially pursuing Sophia Loren, Jessica Walter,
and possibly even Elizabeth Taylor for the role. Early plans were to have the character more passive aggressive, but when the producers couldn't obtain any of the actresses they originally wanted, they then became interested in Joan Collins after seeing her performances in The Stud and The Bitch. Collins' career was in a slump at the time and she accepted the role in Dynasty, after which the character underwent some changes. She was now named Alexis and was far more wicked than originally intended. However, it is clear that Fontaine Khaled was the inspiration for the Alexis character. Both are the former wives of wealthy businessmen, both had extra-marital affairs and were divorced by their husbands after their infidelities were discovered, both live jetset lifestyles with their ample divorce settlements, both have little pet dogs and a Rolls Royce, and both are vengeful, man-hungry, devious, manipulative, glamorous, and, of course, bitchy.
