Although this is not a sequel to A Touch of Class (1973), a number of the cast and crew re-teamed after that earlier Glenda Jackson-George Segal vehicle. These included writer-director Melvin Frank, actors Cec Linder and Paul Sorvino, writer Jack Rose and editor Bill Butler.
It was reported that Melvin Frank had plans for a third Glenda Jackson and George Segal vehicle, but it was never made.
Glenda Jackson was not present at the Academy Awards Ceremony when she won her Best Actress Oscar for A Touch of Class (1973). The film's writer-director-producer Melvin Frank accepted the gong on her behalf. Lost and Found (1979) was the pair's first cinema movie collaboration since Jackson's Oscar win for Best Actress in a Leading Role.
Writer-producer-director Melvin Frank once commented that it took around three years to be able to schedule this film's two leads, Glenda Jackson and George Segal, to be available at the same time. Frank said: "The problem is in getting the two of them together. They both work so much it has taken maybe three years to find them both free at the same time. Ideally, I would like to do a picture with them every four or five years."
