Closing credits epilogue: Of the 103 men, women and children who sailed for 66 days aboard the Mayflower, 51 died during the first winter in the New World. John Alden and Priscilla Mullins married, and had eleven children. Captain Myles Standish was instrumental in establishing friendly relations with the native Indians. Rose Standish died shortly after arrival. William Brewster continued to provide inspired spiritual leadership to the people of Plymouth Colony. And Captain Christopher Jones stayed on in The New World for six months before sailing back to England and retiring. The Plymouth Colony flourished... Perhaps no other group would ever so completely epitomize the courage, hopes and dreams of what would become AMERICA.
One of the great mysteries of the voyage came after the Mayflower arrived in the new world. While William Brewster and a group of men were ashore looking over were they landed Brewster's wife Dorothy disappeared. What happened has never been solved nor was her body ever found. It has been speculated she was murdered or that she committed suicide.
One comment is incorrect. It states that William Brewster's wife Dorothy died mysteriously in the winter of 1620. In fact William Brewster's wife was named Mary and she didn't die that year. Dorothy was married to the other Pilgrim spiritual leader and Governor William Bradford and she did die that first winter.
