According to Time Out, the picture was "produced on a skin-tight budget, yet designed to contain every possible ingredient for mass commercial teen appeal."
The movie was inspired and influenced by Saturday Night Fever (1977) which had been made and released around a couple of years earlier.
The movie's closing credits declare that the picture was "filmed entirely on location in London, England".
