A film with a very different story line during the 2nd part (post Santosh's & Suman's marriage).
When Waheeda Rehman signed the film, she was warned not do the film. They told her it was too early to switch to mother role's. Waheeda stated that she was not switching with Phagun. She was doing the film because the film was based on her. She really liked her character.
One of the films scene was shot at Mumbai's iconic cinema hall Minerva.The theatre is known to screen Sholay for record breaking 5 years and the theatre was called pride of Maharashtra.
Dharmendra plays father to Jaya Bachchan.
Bedardi Ban Gaye Koi. This was Hindustani classical singer Shobha Gurtu's first Hindi film song. She had recorded a song earlier for the film "Pakeezah" (1972), but it was not used in the film. It was later released in an album titled "Pakeezah Rang Barang" (1977) along with other songs that had been recorded by Ghulam Mohammed for "Pakeezah" (1972) but had remained unused.
