Udo Kier in Blood for Dracula (1974)

Trivia

Blood for Dracula

Edit
Udo Kier lost 20 pounds in one week to play Count Dracula. On the first day of filming, he was so weak that he could not stand.
Real, and very fragile, dresses from the 1920s were used as costumes for the Marchese's daughters. Great care had to be taken to avoid getting fake blood or dirt on them, because they could not be replaced.
Dracula is seen walking around in the daylight. Contrary to popular belief that sunlight kills vampires, in Bram Stoker's Dracula novel sunlight only weakens him, it doesn't kill him.
Unlike the controversy over Flesh for Frankenstein (1973) the film suffered very minor cuts for its initial UK cinema release and was never listed as a video nasty. It was passed fully uncut for video in 1995 on the First Independent label.
This film is part of the Criterion Collection, spine #28 (DVD) and spine #287 (laserdisc).
