Rony Clanton in The Education of Sonny Carson (1974)

Trivia

The Education of Sonny Carson

Edit
Ghostface Killah sampled this movie and used it as an intro in one of his songs.
Sonny Carson was also the father of Professor X (1956-2006), who was the leader of the militant hip-hop collective known as Blackwatch.
The rival gang shown in the film, the Hawks, were based on the real life gang the Tomahawks, aka Hawks, that was active from the mid 1960s until the late 1970s. The actor who played Wolfe (Derrick Champ Ford) was in fact the real-life leader of the Hawks. He later turned his life around and changed his name to Akbar.
With the exception of Sonny Carson (Ronny Clanton) and Little John (Roger Hill), most of the roles were not cast by trained actors but in fact real-life gang members.
Roger Hill, the actor who plays Little John, Wolfe's right-hand man in the Hawks gang, would go on to play the role of the larger -than-life gang leader Cyrus in the 1979 movie "The Warriors."
