The highlight of this movie was Pran singing 'Hum Bolega tho'.
The film did not have a leading man for the longest time. Hema Malini's secretary saw Amitabh in a film and was impressed. He got Amitabh into the film but producer was not very happy. However by the time the movie was released, Amitabh had become a popular actor. Kasauti did average business and fared much better than expected.
Amitabh's first film with Hema Malini as the heroine though she worked as his sister in Gehri Chaal. Hema got higher billing over AMitabh in the movie titles since he had not yet attained star status at the time of signing the movie.
The film proved stressful for Aravind Sen.When he signed Amitabh everyone warned him not too. Aravind still went forward with his decision. But during the making of the film, Amitabh's Ek Nazar and Bansi Birju released and flopped. Certain distributors backed out and stopped sending him funds for the film. Aravind Sen still thought that Amitabh could rise above his bad situation. Bandhe Haath was yet to release and Sen was hoping that film would become a hit and help the finance of Kasauti. But Bandhe Haath flopped and Aravind got stressed. Now Kasauti was seen as a losing project and all finance stopped coming..He suffered a heart attack and Kasauti got further delayed.
The title music of Kasauti was later reused for the film Apna Desh, Lahu Pukarega, Khalifa, Nai Din Nai Raat, Darling Darling, Harfan Maula, Ladki Bholi Bhali,Main Khilona Nahin.
