Screenwriter Lorenzo Semple Jr., who wrote this film, also wrote the original "Batman" TV pilot episode "Batman: The Movie (1966)," and was a script consultant to the "Batman (1966)" television series--two projects also containing characters named "Batman" and "Robin".
In early 2011 director Edgar Wright requested that the film be made available via DVD on demand from the Warner Archives, which obliged accordingly.
