Ellery Queen (1975)

FAQ

Ellery Queen

FAQ

No words were ever written. The jaunty and mysterious main theme and show were composed by Oscar winner Elmer Bernstein. You might remember him for his film score to The Magnificent 7. He was one of the best. He died 8/2004. I asked him if he realized he had included a full bar of music from his TV scoring to the 1950s Johnny Staccato. He said he hadn't known he was doing it at the time. I told him it was the first time a TV score was plagiarized from his own score in the same genre. He answered he had done that with his Theme from The Magnificent 7 at least a dozen times. This was in March of 76.

If it wasn't William Conrad, it was someone with the same voice.

    Harry von Zell (1906-1981)
