    Raffles

I watched this series on Acorn TV, and really enjoyed it! The series is from 1975, but don't let that fool you. The acting is very good and Anthony Valentine as Raffles, and Christopher Strauli, as Bunny are perfect choices to play the main characters. Their portrayals are fun and light hearted, and there is just enough drama to keep one interested. It is enjoyable to watch Raffles outwit Scotland Yard and sometimes to the cost of Bunny's nerves. The staging is very good, as well as the costuming. I have re-watched several of the episodes, and will probably do so again. The series is a lot of fun, and I would recommend highly!

Excellent Raffles, Bunny, adaptation and production

BBC radio did a reading of the Raffles stories 40 years ago. More recently a radio production starring Jeremy Clyde. Both were excellent. But this with the casting of the duo of Raffles and Bunny, attractive interiors and costumes, and excellent adaptation by Philip MacKie is a very worthy production. Anthony Valentine was such an excellent Raffles - I suspect it was his best role.

I would have preferred it to have stuck to the book for the first episode where Bunny meets Raffles having lost at cards. The book was better. EW Hornung was in my view a better writer than Conan Doyle and difficult improve on but Philip MacKie's was one of the best adaptation I have seen.

Just a shame that more of the Raffles stories weren't produced

A delightful British movie about The movie is about a team of jewel thieves who steal not only jewels but priceless items from public buildings

This is a delightful movie (or series); the acting is wonderful -- the actors *are* the characters, the plots are wonderful and so are the costumes and setting. This is British drama at its best; if you like Downton Abbey and light comedy (not slapstick)and a good plot this is a movie you'll like. The movie is based on a series of books about an upper-class Englishman who is what's called a "cracksman,"i.e. a jewel thief and his friend; if you liked the long-ago movie with To Catch a Thief with Cary Grant you'll enjoy this. Interesting plots with suspense (not tension-creating suspense, just enough suspense to keep you wondering if they'll get away with their crimes
