The series was conceived as a second attempt to adapt H.G. Wells' The Invisible Man into a spy series, following the failed attempt starring David McCallum in The Invisible Man (1975).
This show included a very early appearance of a Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) digital watch, which was used to control the invisibility.
The vanishing effect was created as a means to save on special effects cost.
In the years since, Ben Murphy has not looked back with much affection on this show. He said it failed because he believed it was "rubbish" and "no good".
The 2019 feature film of the same name starring Will Smith has no connection this short-lived TV series.
