Zelah Clarke considered this production to be the end of her acting career. She was quoted as saying "Everyone remembers the Rochesters; nobody remembers the Janes."
Timothy Dalton is apparently the only actor to have appeared onscreen as the iconic Charlotte Brontë character Rochester and also as Heathcliff, the male protagonist of the classic novel 'Wuthering Heights'', written by Charlotte's sister Emily Brontë, Dalton having played Heathcliff in Wuthering Heights (1970).
Jean Harvey, who plays Mrs. Fairfax in this version, payed Mrs. Reed in the 1973 version.
