Emmanuelle VI had hardcore scenes shot, but they were never used. These explicit scenes, which did not involve the main actors, were included in some television versions and turned up as extras on certain European DVD editions.
In a 1981 interview, Sylvia Kristel talked about doing so many nude scenes. "So many people have written me about 'Emmanuelle' that I think I must go on in that vein. I'm obliged to continue to play sexy, naked women whether I like it or not. It is what is expected of me." She said she'd like to work clothed but she can't kick the nude habit. "I play sexy ladies and appear in the nude because I look so innocent," Sylvia said, not so innocently. "It works because it's clever and perverse. My manager, Elaine Rich, tells me I'm a sex goddess. So that's what I play." But, despite the fact that she has taken off her clothes in almost all of her movies, Sylvia says she is uncomfortable in the buff. "I'm self-conscious without my clothes on. I am truly modest, so I think I must be a masochist to do so many nude scenes."
This was the first 'Emmanuelle' movie in the official series where Sylvia Kristel was not the main actress playing Emmanuelle. Kristel appears, but mostly in the first part of the movie, before a surgical operation transforms her Emmanuelle character in to a new Emmanuelle played by Mia Nygren.

With this film, actress Mia Nygren became the first actress after Sylvia Kristel to play the Emmanuelle character in the official 'Emmanuelle' series. Emmanuelle would not be played by Kristel for the next two films. She was played by Monique Gabrielle in Emmanuelle 5 (1987) and Natalie Uher in Emmanuelle 6 (1988). Kristel reprises the role in Emmanuelle 7 (1993).
