FAQ

Krull

FAQ

Alien invaders The Slayers arrive on the medieval planet Krull to conquer that world. Two rival kingdoms ruled by Turold and Eirig decide to put aside their differences and form an alliance and unite to defend Krull from The Slayers. During the wedding of Turlold's son Princess Colwyn and Eirig's daughter Lyssa, Eirig's castle is attacked by The Slayers which Lyssa is captured and Colwyn is wounded and left for dead. Recovering, Colwyn learns from the wise old man Ynyr that The Slayers have taken Lyssa to The Black Fortress, a black tower-like spaceship and that the Black Fortress won't be easy to reach or find as at every sunrise, the Black Fortress vanishes and reappears in a different location. Gaining the Glaive, a throwing disc weapon. Colwyn and Ynyr set off to find the Black Fortress. Along the way they recruit the cowardly sorcerer Ergo. A boy named Titch. The one-eyed giant Rell and a band of outlaws led by Torquil and together they set off in search of the Black Fortress. In the Black Fortress, Lyssa learns that The Slayer's leader The Beast had The Slayers capture her as he intends to marry her so they can rule Krull together and Lyssa finds escaping from The Black Fortress impossible as it is heavily guarded and Colwyn and his companions consult a blind seer for information on where The Black Fortress will appear next. But, the blind seer is killed and Ynyr decides to go off and consult the seer The Widow of the Web who is imprisoned in a cave guarded by a giant spider and Ynyr soon learns from The Widow of the Web where The Black Fortress will appear at the next sunrise and Colwyn and his companions races with haste to the Black Fortress and get to it before it vanishes and appears at another location on the planet.

Probably because the role was intended for a little person. Apparently, the idea was that the little fellow and the cyclops would become friends despite their differing sizes and the cyclops's knowledge of his fate. When a suitable little person was not found, the full-size adult actor was cast instead but the line went unchanged.

The line works just fine, anyway, as the actor who played Ergo, David Battley, was still quite short compared to the actor who played the character he is addressing with this line, the Cyclops, Bernard Bresslaw.
