With this movie, Jean-Paul Belmondo is at the top of his career's commercial success; the film reached one million tickets sold in Paris and its surroundings in only five weeks, like Ace of Aces (1982) the previous year. After that, his movies saw a slow decline until The Loner (1987), at which point he stopped making supercop movies.
