Testament (1983)

FAQ

Testament

FAQ

Mike (Hiroshi's dad), did not simply disappear - he died. As Brad rode up on his bike, he said "is that Mike" to one of the people loading a body onto a truck. The man loading the body onto the truck nodded affirmatively. It is implied heavily that he knew he was dying of radiation poisoning, so he left a pile of cans with Hiroshi, but because Hiroshi is mentally disabled, he doesn't know how to open the cans and would have starved to death if a Brad hadn't found him.

Because there is absolutely no reason to target suburbs. Only major cities and metropolitan areas where most infrastructure is located, as well as military bases and missile silos would be targeted. Any country that is part of NATO would have been attacked, including Canada. It is also likely that the fictional town of Hamlin was shielded from the blast wave by mountains.

Nothing is "wrong" wish Hiroshi. He has a mental disorder, probably autism or Down's syndrome. Gerry Murillo, who was diagnosed as "retarded" at the time of filming, has a moderate developmental disability and Down Syndrome. Unfortunately, he has received very little recognition for his role as Hiroshi on this film.

Tom was killed during a business trip in San Francisco, with San Francisco being a major urban center and one of the many target cities for the bombs. A grief-stricken Carol, still in denial, refuses to believe his death and refuses to pack up and leave with her friends, remaining in town to wait for him.

Similar films include the titles: Threads, Silkwood, The Day After, Chernobyl Diaries, The Atomic Cafe and Dawn of the Dead.

He has blood in his urine, a probable symptom of severe radiation poisoning caused by internal bleeding. Evidently he dies soon after.

They are crying because of the narrator's final lines: "your children are not dead. They are just waiting for when the world deserves them". The parents are wondering if they themselves really deserve their own children after the authoritarian adults of the world have decided to nuke it, especially since the children are the innocent victims in the whole ordeal.
