The scene was being shot as follows: the actor came down from the pier, several divers helped him out of his clothes under water and he came up to the surface with only his trunks on. The first take seemed too slow to the director, so another one was taken. There was a problem with the tie under water, the actor almost drowned and they had to tear the tie. In the end the third take became final, in which the torn tie had been patched up again.
