Trivia

Neighbours

Edit
Helped launch the acting careers of Guy Pearce (Mike Young), Russell Crowe (Kenny Larkin), Pia Miranda (Karen Oldman), Radha Mitchell (Catherine O'Brien/Cassandra Rushmore), Jason Donovan (Scott Robinson), Jesse Spencer (Billy Kennedy), and Margot Robbie (Donna Freedman), as well as the music careers of Kylie Minogue (Charlene Mitchell-Robinson), Natalie Imbruglia (Beth Brennan), Holly Valance (Felicity Scully) and Delta Goodrem (Nina Tucker).
The street used for exterior shots is Pin Oak Court in Vermont South, in the heart of Melbourne's middle-class suburbia. The houses are owned and lived in by real residents. Grundy Television pay the residents for the use of the court and now also provide security at night times after a number of vandal attacks.
Was originally screened on Channel 7 in Australia in 1985 until it was canceled at the end of 1985 (after only eight months) in favor of Channel 7's new one-hour news service. The show was saved by rival network Channel 10 who acquired the rights for the show and, beginning in January 1986, have screened it ever since. The show has since become Australia's most successful drama series, enjoyed by 30 million viewers a day in more than 20 countries.
All three Hemsworth brothers have featured on the show.
  • Chris Hemsworth as Jamie Kane (2002).
  • Liam Hemsworth as Josh Taylor (2007-2008).
  • Luke Hemsworth as Nathan Tyson (2001-2002)/John Carter (2008).
During the COVID-19 pandemic Neighbours set in place guidelines to film safely, which included: splitting up cast into three groups, having temperature checks/hygiene stations, social distancing (including between cast members), use of real-life partners doubling one of the actors for intimate scenes and the cast not having makeup touched up through the day. The guidelines made the show one of the first to work in the COVID-19 era.
