In the 80s, Christmas was about seeing which fantastic fare the TV had decided to bless us with. Of course, the more prepared among us knew this well in advance, having eagerly pored over the Radio Times/TV Times to check that Jimmy Cricket's Family Laugh 'n' Waz would be shown. There it was – right after Reflections On The Eucharist With The Reverend Paul Leyland.

TV Od starts tonight, and seems pretty much right up our street. Hosted by Matt Edmondson, it's about all the online comments people make about television shows. Since we love Twitter and telly, we have a sneaking suspicion this could be one of our new favourites. Still, we wanted to know more, so we got Matt on the phone to find out...
People online can get very angry about television.
"Digital Spy isn't the worst offender for people getting angry and leaving comments. I think it's partly that thing of people getting passionate about TV, particularly with cult things. People get very opinionated about it. And I think people think they know what they are talking about. If someone disagrees then it's nice to have a lively debate, isn't it?
"Will I be getting comments from the DS forums? I don't know, sometimes they're a little bit worthy on there.

As news breaks that Deal Or No Deal is coming to an end this autumn, we revisit the maths involved in Noel Edmonds' beard...
My first memory is of my dad getting into a fight with Noel Edmonds on the set of Telly Addicts. He had gotten so bored with the endless trivia that he fell asleep during one question, and woke up during another, and ran onto the stage to complain that David Jason wasn’t The Fugitive. If he found a colourful 80s gameshow boring, good lord knows what he makes of random guesstheboxathon Deal Or No Deal. He would probably implode into a coma.
But is it really just a game of chance? Unfortunately, try as you might, you can never get away from that agonising itch that it’s all just a completely random number guessing game. Albeit one with a delusional...

The BBC needs saving, according to Noel Edmonds. And apparently the man who gave us Mr Blobby, Telly Addicts and Noel's HQ is the man to save it.
Noel appeared on Newsnight on Monday night (March 17) to offer a deal (or should that be no deal) with the broadcaster, claiming that he was prepared to give the kiss of life to the corporation.
Thankfully, his generous offer came up against Jeremy Paxman, who was in a particularly derisory mood. What followed was hilarious television.
1. Paxman: "What do you think is the notional value of the BBC if it can be bought?" Noel: "I have absolutely no idea."
Ding, ding. Round one to Paxman.
2. Paxman: "Like-minded people? What, a lot of... with the greatest of respect, lots of blokes with beards who present afternoon television programmes. Who are these like-minded people?"
Noel claims to have a team of financial backers called Project Reith.
