This was filmed in the wake of Henry Jaglom's divorce settlement. It was filmed with Jaglom's ex-wife, Patrice Townsend, who had left him about two years earlier. It was filmed in the house they had both lived in for all the years of their marriage. It also starred their friends and family.
Shelley Winters had a part in this motion picture. In the spring of 1984 she filmed a few scenes, but at she had disagreement, threw a tantrum and left the set. Her agent pleaded with her to go back and resume her role, but she refused and her character was replaced. She does not appear in the final film.
Patrice Townsend, who plays Henry Jaglom's wife/ex-wife in this picture, plays a scene early in the film with her own father Bud Townsend. He was a film director in his own right and he played her own father in this film.
The home movie wedding footage seen during the film's opening credits was filmed by filmmaker Henry Jaglom's close friend, director James Frawley. Many of Frawley's and Jaglom's mutual friends, including director Bob Rafelson, appear in the Fourth of July party sequence in this picture.
The first in a trilogy of auto-biographical films directed by Henry Jaglom. He followed this film with 'Someone to Love' (1987) and 'New Year's Day' (1989).
