John Paul in Day of the Dead (1985)

FAQ

Day of the Dead

FAQ

The film leaves the viewer to infer these facts for themselves. However, it is apparent from the heated discussions with the soldiers that there has been no contact with the rest of the military for some time. This would imply that for all the people in the facility know, they could be the last living Humans on Earth. Clearly, with films like Land Of The Dead with such locations as Fiddler's Green, this is not the case. But the film was intent on demonstrating the major psychological toll that this level of isolation causes.

In the UK, George A. Romero's Zombie-Classic was released in a shortened version by 4 Front Video (only the first edition) as well as Entertainment - approx. 1 min. is missing in these versions. All the other UK VHS and DVD releases are uncut. In Japan, two different versions were released. The VHS and Laserdisc by Tohokushinsha / Toei Video were surprisingly only cut in one small scene, whereas harder footage in other places was left in its place. See a comparison for that release here. The Laserdisc by JVD Laservision, on the other hand, was cut in basically all of the violence scenes by six minutes and additionally outlawed in 1996.
