Given the crowded line-up of Shaw Brothers entries 'Heroes of the East', 'Avenging Eagle', 'Shaolin Rescuers' and 'Swordsman and the Enchantress' from their Hong Kong studio that year, the Taiwan staffed 'Tragedy of Love' and 'One Son Too Many' were officially produced through Shaw's Singaporean headquarters in order to qualify as Singaporean entries for inclusion to the 25th Asian Film Festival line-up held in Singapore on July 3-6, 1979.
