At the end of September, JoBlo Media and Octane Multimedia teamed up to launch a new YouTube channel named JoBlo TV, which hosts multiple feature films to watch for free throughout the week. The genres we’ll be focusing on at JoBlo TV are Action, Horror, Sci-Fi, Fantasy, and Thrillers – and the free movies we shared this week really delivered the thrills!
This week’s line-up consisted of the sci-fi thriller Loophole, the crime thriller The Beast, and the sci-fi horror film Interpreters. Here’s some information on each of them:
Starring Chloe Lukasiak, who is best known for appearing as herself on many episodes of the reality TV series Dance Moms, Loophole was directed by Jenni Ivers and tells the following story: The future of humanity hangs in the balance, as both sides race against time to find the bloodline of Judas Iscariot. When an anonymous accuser named Jay-Z in a sexual assault lawsuit along with Sean “Diddy” Combs, he quickly responded. He sued attorney Tony Buzbee for extortion after the lawyer contacted him before filing the suit. However, the judge recently reprimanded Jay-Z’s attorney for lashing out at Buzbee. Despite this, they have another plan of action to get the case tossed due to a legal loophole.
Here is what Jay-Z’s attorney plans on doing to try to end the Jay-Z assault case before it starts.
Jay-Z’s Attorney Wants Lawsuit Thrown Out Thanks To Legal Loophole
An unidentified woman has sued Jay-Z and Sean “Diddy” Combs for a sexual assault that she claims happened when she was 13 years old. While her story has several discrepancies, including her own father questioning the claims, a judge has agreed to her remaining anonymous in the lawsuit and has told the defense team to stop attacking her lawyer.

Sunshine and noir are antithetical, as probably anyone who knows even a word of French could tell you. Sunshine and film noir, nearly as much so. Yet summer’s here and the time is right for skulking in the murderously foggy streets, thanks to a three-day festival of vintage ’40s and ’50s crime dramas being presented this weekend at the newly reopened Hollywood Legion Theater by the Film Noir Foundation.
In a year that hadn’t started off with a pandemic in full force, or wasn’t continuing with Hollywood’s Egyptian Theatre being closed for renovations, noir fans would have already something close to their fill with the annual Noir City festival that’s usually co-sponsored by the American Cinematheque every March or April. But with the absence of that 22-year-old standby leaving a doom-shaped hole in L.A. repertory moviegoers’ hearts, the Noir Foundation has stepped in with a shorter,...

Two of the hard-rock and metal’s loudest musicians, Halestorm frontwoman Lzzy Hale and Lamb of God guitarist Mark Morton, have joined forces for what may be the gentlest song they’ve ever recorded, an acoustic cover of the Black Crowes’ “She Talks to Angels.” The pair previously cut a version of the song for Morton’s solo EP, Ether, which came out over the summer, but they decided to reprise it for Hale’s Raise Your Horns YouTube show.

Halestorm revisit some of their past songs on the new EP Reimagined, out now. But the project isn’t a clichéd set of acoustic readings; instead, the hard-rock band stays true to the EP’s title and revamps the arrangements. Their 2009 debut single “I Get Off” taps into brooding funk, while 2012’s “Break In” becomes a duet between Lzzy Hale and Amy Lee of Evanescence.
The left-field head-turner, however, is a faithful cover of “I Will Always Love You,” written by Dolly Parton and a signature hit for Whitney Houston.

Alec Baldwin is known for his quick wit, but his daughter Ireland has a few zingers of her own.
As Spike TV’s next honoree for their One Night Only series, Alec was roasted by his friends, costars and family at Harlem’s World Famous Apollo Theatre in New York City.
Ireland, 21, didn’t hold back when she took the mic, even bringing back the now infamous 2007 voicemail rant in which Alec called her a “rude, thoughtless, little pig.”
“Hello, my name is Ireland, and I’m a Baldwin. Yes, I’m a member of that family. The Baldwins,” the model began.

It took 3,500 tips from the public and some old fashion police work by a team of dogged detectives to apprehend the suspect who allegedly sent Phoenix into a panic more than a year ago, murdering nine people during 12 random shootings.
Speaking to People Tuesday morning, Phoenix police spokesman Jonathan Howard likens the year-long investigation that led to 23-year-old Aaron Saucedo’s arrest to assembling a jigsaw puzzle.
“We don’t need the whole puzzle — just give us the missing piece,” Howard tells People. “As we got that missing piece, we were able to put the rest of the puzzle together.

Oh, 68 Kill features a psychotic AnnaLynne McCord seducing and shit-kicking her way through country-fried thrills? Why yes, this is exactly my kind of midnight carnage. Wait, it gets better? You bet! This dark comedy marks Trent Haaga’s directorial follow-up to Chop (also co-wrote Cheap Thrills/Deadgirl), and 68 Kill only furthers his catalog of gleeful nastiness. Femininity and masculinity clash in a bumbling Bonnie and Clyde reimagining, with a dash of Tarantino unpredictability. It’s a raucous closing-time nightcap that runs on perfume and blood-soaked booty shorts, because what man wouldn’t kill for Ms. McCord? Brilliant casting, Mr. Haaga. Novelist Bryan Smith should be proud of this adaptation.
Matthew Gray Gubler stars as Chip, the love-struck boyfriend of white-trash vixen Liza (AnnaLynne McCord). She’s the talk of the trailer park. Everyone wants her, but Chip is the lucky guy she goes home with – when not sexing landlords in lieu of late rent.

I loved this episode for two reasons: it tackled an important issue that doesn't usually get a lot of serious coverage, and because of the thinly disguised shade it threw at a certain political leader.
The writers certainly let us know how they really felt about real world current events on Madam Secretary Season 3 Episode 15. Sure, names were to changed to protect the innocent (writers from libel/slander lawsuits), but the story we heard bore some striking similarities to some actual events.
I have to applaud the writing team for choosing the Phillipines as the home of their fictional ass grabbing Presidential adversary. I mean, the actual Filipino president, Rodrigo Duterte, is pretty psychotic himself.
The lines they wrote criticizing and analying the behavior of Trump fictional Filipino President Andrada were absolutely amazing. The comments about Andrada's character in general may have been even better than reactions to him getting handsy with Elizabeth.

The cherry trees may be blooming in DC, but young love certainly is not.
Relationships were falling apart left, right, and center on Madam Secretary Season 3 Episode 14, but as always, there was still work to do. International aid deals wait for no broken hearts.
Daisy's heartbreak was the most unexpected, and the one I don't regret. Her beau seemed liked a boorish bro-dude, but turned out to be a CIA operative using the job at State as a cover. I'm not sure yet if this redeems him or makes him even more reprehensible.
At the very least, it does get Ms back to it's Season 1 thriller roots.
Honestly, Daisy may be mourning lost possibilities, but did anybody think those two had a future beyond a few very hot and heavy rolls in the hay? Kevin, or whatever his real name was, was a palette cleanser, not a prince charming.

Teen Who Jumped Out of Moving Vehicle to Escape Alleged Kidnapping Led to Arrest in Two Murder Cases
In 2013, Jessica Heeringa, 25, was getting ready to close up the western Michigan gas station where she worked the night shift alone. She hasn't been seen since. Her case went unsolved until Tuesday, when officials in Michigan announced that they had arrested Jeffrey Willis, 46, on charges of murder and kidnapping in connection with Heeringa's disappearance. They still have not found her body, police said. Willis was already being held on charges he allegedly murdered 36-year-old jogger Rebekah Bletsch and attempting to kidnap a 16-year-old girl whose name authorities have not revealed because she's a minor. Ever since the humble release of its own rendition of The Walking Dead back in 2012, Telltale Games has become synonymous with powerful interactive storytelling, but it looks as though the studio’s next project will take that mantra one step further.
That’s because Lionsgate Entertainment, the studio behind such teen-oriented franchises as The Hunger Games and Divergent, has today announced plans to invest in Telltale ahead of a new partnership. Such an arrangement will see Lionsgate’s Jon Feltheimer join the studio’s board of directors.

Cable News Nets Break in With Live Coverage as Searchers Find Debris Believed to Be From AirAsia Jet
CNN and Fox News launched into extensive live coverage early Tuesday morning as search teams spotted bodies and debris in the Java Sea believed to be from AirAsia Flight 8501.
The cable news networks reported that Bambang Sulistyo, head of Indonesia’s National Search and Rescue Agency, said he was “95% sure” the debris seen by surveillance aircraft was from the missing jetliner.
The Airbus A320-200 with 162 people on board disappeared three days earlier after departing from Surabaya city in Indonesia en route to Singapore. As TheWrap previously reported, 155 passengers, including 16 children and one infant, were on the plane when it vanished.

If he does join the NBA team, Collins would make history as the first active openly gay player in American professional sports. The 35-year-old, who came out last April in Sports Illustrated, has not played since last year after finishing the regular season with the Washington Wizards. Sources added that the Nets held a private workout with Collins during the All-Star Break in Los Angeles, which is also the athlete's hometown. If we pick up a book, we have the option to put it down. If we’re watching a movie, we have the option to pause or even turn it off. The same mechanic is applied with video games. We find ourselves so frustrated with a decision, whether that’ll be performing one action rather than another or finding ourselves dying on countless occassions.
We can even find ourselves so emotionally attached to characters that sometimes we need to find a moment or two to compsose our thoughts to carry on before we begin cursing at our televisions. Which five games this year (2013) managed to make us do that – whether it was due to faulty game mechanics, or overwhelmed emotion.
For any I missed, be sure to leave your comments and suggestions at the end…

Update, 9:45 Am: The possibility of U.S. military action against Syria means that President Barack Obama won’t be coming to La on September 9 after all for a fundraiser at the home of Friends co-creator Marta Kauffman. A source tells me that the White House wants the Commander-in-Chief in Washington for an expected Congressional vote next week on the proposed action, and subsequently the Democratic National Committee has postponed the event. Though no new date has been set, the fundraiser will be rescheduled, the DNC says. Patrons who purchased the $32,400-per-person tickets for the small gathering with Obama will be refunded if they don’t want to attend the rescheduled event. The Senate Foreign Relations Committee voted 10-7 Wednesday in favor of the use of military force against the Assad regime. Full Senate and House votes on the matter will likely come early next week. Adding to our Wednesday feature LatinoBuzz, Christine Davila, Sundance programmer is contributing Chicana from Chicago, her take on the Latino scene. Here is our first outing:
Diverse Voices, Universal Content
Runaway Renegade
Described as the largest gathering of Latinos working in media in the U.S., the 13thannual National Association of Latino Independent Producers (Nalip) Conference presented by Time Warner, most actively by way of HBO Latino and NBC Universal, and The National Latino Media Council, took place this weekend at the model tourist convention hub, Universal City Sheraton. Nalip finds itself in a bit of a transition following Kathryn Galan’s departure as Executive Director who spent almost eleven years at the organization shaping it into what it is today. The search is still on for a replacement but guiding the transition as Interim Director is the affable Beni Matias who started with Nalip from its inception. A couple of the board members are new, including Rosa Alonso, founder of My Latino Voicewho will lend her digital marketing expertise to the organization. These high level leadership changes can potentially bring about a revitalized and evolving mission to Nalip’s growing legacy. Covering the conference for Latin Heat Online Magazine, I greatly enjoyed the ability to observe and take part with an inquisitive gonzo-like spirit. Indeed I’d be remiss if I did not approach the significant Latino organization with an on-the-ground, critical eye, especially now while it is in a very ‘review mode’ on how to continue to stay relevant. Its crucial to recognize its monumental formation and landmark achievements. Equally as crucial is to identify how to pragmatically further the conversation it began thirteen years ago about Us Latino representation in front and behind the camera. Most important is to distill the relevant but sometimes incongruent messaging – for instance, the Robert Rodriguez keynote illustrated a polar opposite way of thinking to that of Ron Meyer’s keynote (Do we want to Break Out or Break In to the mainstream?), which makes for an intriguing forum of deeper discussion.
New Works/New Voices: A Storyteller's Journey panel with Tamir Muhammad, Tribeca Film Institute, Shari Frilot, Sundance Film Festival, Gun Hill Road filmmaker Rashaad Ernesto Green moderated by Luis Castro, HBO
Lovely RRRRRRita - recipient of Nalip's Lifetime Achievement Award and exclusive Egot (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony) club member
What to expect from Chicana from Chicago’s multi-part Nalip coverage? A couple of case-studies/interviews with Rashaad Ernesto Green who epitomizes the Diy mentality which made his feature debut, Gun Hill Road a unique success story, the filmmaker Michael D. Olmos and his star, Gina Rodriguez ofFilly Brown who embody the Us Latino pop culture flavor.
I’d like to recognize the influential Gatekeepers at non-profit, artistic development institutions responsible for introducing the most fresh, diverse and underrepresented voices to audiences, like Shari Frilot, Senior Programmer at Sundance Film Festival, Tamir Muhammad, Director of Feature Programming at Tribeca Film Institute and Richard Ray Perez who is the newest and welcome U.S. Latino staff addition at Sundance Institute’s Documentary Feature Program. I’m also most excited to give you a heads up on fresh new film and multi-media projects in the works, and I’ll make sure to dish on the fancy Awards Gala.
I found the theme of Nalip 2012’s, “Diverse Voices, Universal Content” sounding futuristic and empowering, yet initially too broadly defined and perfunctory. I strongly feel that the more focus we can bring to next year’s themes, the better we’ll be able to advance conversation. That said, I’ve identified a few key points that were strong merits of this year’s Nalip, and an excellent way to frame and contextualize what was really being said:
Training our content producers and artists, to not only compete but to raise the bar and expectations in every industry. Advocate and encourage our friends of color and diversity in all professions, in particular policy-making fields, towards becoming ‘Decision Makers” The need to vocally and financially support ‘our own content’, as peers but especially obligate those in a position of power who represent us and utilize our fan-dom (Robert Rodriguez with his new El Rey network) Networking and sharing with peers, and takeaway the hard lessons learned by our elders, those who first paved in-roads into mainstreams, like Rita Moreno and Jerry Velasco, recipients of this year’s Lifetime Achievement Awards. Developing our individual and personal voices with which we distinguish our mestizo identity while simultaneously relating the universal the power of storytelling
Overall, I found Nalip an absolutely positive and celebratory environment. . I’m happy to share my thoughts but I would love and need to hear from You. I invite you to engage and kindly ask you to share your comments and observations from this year’s Nalip, and in general the landscape of Us Latino representation in media as you’ve experienced it.

I was turned on to Halestorm by an associate about 2 years ago. Having trust in this friend, I stopped into my local music shop and picked up the band’s self titled debut album sight unseen. No disc has seen this amount of play in my car stereo in nearly 30 years, when Michael Jackson’s Thriller blared from the speakers of my 1970 Chevy Nova. Basically, I dug the disc. A lot.
I’ve always been a big fan of female fronted rock bands. I think the softer tones of the female voice just lend themselves better to the overall sound. Halestorm front-woman Lzzy Hale, in my opinion, stands tallest amongst the female leads working in rock today. She boasts a vocal range nearly unrivaled by her rock-n-roll peers as she easily transitions between soft ballads and melt your face off wails. Since I’ve been fortunate enough to see Halestorm live,...

Break Media is one of online video’s growing powerhouses, now reaching over 140 million people a month through its network of sites firmly footed in the psyche of young male webizens. It may be easy to quickly cast Break in the corner of fail videos and puppy freakouts, still core canon over at its flagship Break.com. But the business of Break Media is growing up, recognizing the incresing demand for premium content from the advertsising world still squeamish to commit TV-level dollars into online video projects. Slowly, Break is shifting to adapt and cozing up to the Hollywood production establishment that knows a thing or two about producing premium. And the company itself has bloomed to a headcount now over 200 employees, most based in Los Angeles where several video-heavy content startups (or once-startups) like Hulu, Maker Studios, Machinima and Mahalo call home. The first move was to hire former...

Coheed and Cambria bassist Michael Todd mug shot
According to police, Coheed and Cambria bassist Michael Todd walked into a Walgreens pharmacy in Attleboro, Mass. around 1Pm on Sunday. He allegedly showed a note on his phone to the pharmacist that said he had a bomb and demanded to be given Oxycontin, an extremely powerful painkiller.
Todd, 30, left the scene in a taxi with six bottles of Oxycontin and headed to the Comcast Center in Mansfield, where Coheed and Cambria was due to open for Soundgarden that evening. Todd was later identified to police by the cab driver and on store surveillance video.
Police arrested Michael Todd at the Comcast Center before the show started and the band ended up playing without him.

Peter’s schedule gets manic with the development of a range of children’s books and a wave of promotion for his reality TV series which sees him face some tough questions from the media.
However, the stand out press article that Peter does is an interview with a magazine, his first exclusive since splitting with Elen. The headline is “No More Mr Nice Guy”; accompanied by raunchy photoshoot!
The busy schedule is broken up by an Easter Break in Cyprus with Princess, Junior and Harvey.
Peter gives us an insight into their unique father and son relationship during the break and continues to do his best to give the kids a trip to remember, despite the weather not quite playing ball.

"X-Men: First Class" is just a week away from its release date, and 20th Century Fox delivers two fresh sneak-peeks from the anticipated superhero movie. One is a clip which focuses on the first meeting between Charles Xavier and Raven Darkholme a.k.a. Mystique, who changes herself into Charles' mother to deceive him. In the other snippet, Darwin is seen saving Angel from whatever happens to her.
"X-Men: First Class" is coming out in the U.S. on June 3. It charts the epic beginning of the X-Men saga before mutants revealed themselves to the world, and before Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr took the names Professor X and Magneto.
Not archenemies, they were instead at first the closest of friends, working together with other Mutants to prevent war. In the process, a grave rift between them opened, which began the eternal war between Magneto's Brotherhood and Professor X's X-Men.

Last week, the cinematographer Jeff Cronenweth, who was in Los Angeles lensing David Fincher’s English-language adaptation of ”The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” (no other cinematographer has worked with the director more often), was kind enough to give up his Thursday and Friday lunch breaks in order to chat with me by phone about his life and career. Then, this week, the 47-year-old receieved the first major awards recognition of his career, garnering a best cinematography nomination from the American Society of Cinematographers for his work on “The Social Network,” which bodes well for his prospects on snagging an Oscar nomination on January 25, as well. That film, as well as his journey to it and since it, was the subject of most of our conversations.
